HCAM^® is designed to be connected to a laptop/desktop computer just like a webcam to perform seamless biometric enrollment and identification.

HCAM^® is a desktop unit designed to be connected to a laptop/desktop computer just like a webcam and to perform seamless biometric enrollment and verification. Like all other GRI iris recognition products, HCAM^®’s primary building block is the HCOREc, and the HCAM^®’s operating system is Linux.

HCAM^® hardware is complemented by the EyEnroll™ software, which allows seamless enrollment to be performed on the laptop/PC. EyEnroll™ runs on the dedicated laptop/PC where the following steps are performed for enrollment (Iris Branding) of users:

• Encryption of the HCAM^® Unique Identifier (UI) for registration of it as an authorized enrollment device (only when first connected to laptop/PC)
• Encryption of enrollee’s selected personal information such as name, address if required for registration to be “fused” with his/her iris data.
• Encryption of the iris images acquired
• Encryption of the liveness detection message.
• EyEnroll™ performs the iris branding by transmitting the different encrypted packets through a secure channel to the database/back-end server for storage.

In addition to EyEnroll™, the HCAM^® hardware is also complemented by SAMBI™ (biometric acquisition) and GRI’s proprietary biometric matching softwares, which are included in the list price as a runtime license per unit for unlimited number of users. Like all GRI biometric products, HCAM^® is algorithm agnostic, and can be coupled with any algorithm that the customer wishes to utilize.

The primary components of the HCAM^® are IR illuminator boards and cameras designed by GRI.

The HCAM^® measures 5.25” / 0.13 m (W) by 8” /0.20 m (H) by 3” / 0.08 m (D), and comes with its own desktop base, while it can also be mounted on a tripod or easily attached to the laptop/desktop computer via a clip or other mounting hardware just like a webcam.

The unit has a stand-off distance of 19” / 0.48 m, a horizontal capture range of 5.4” / 0.14 m and a vertical capture range of 4” / 0.1 m. The HCAM^® comes in two versions that differ in their facial image capture capability.
